On the evening of Friday, 30 October, Russian forces attacked an energy facility in Kyiv, the capital of Ukraine. As a result, part of the city's districts lost electricity. The information came from Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko and the energy company DTEK.

Which districts are affected

Klitschko said that parts of the Obolon, Darnytsia, Desna and Podil districts were left without power. Ukrainian media initially mentioned three districts, but the mayor's own list names four.

Energy workers stated that outage schedules are currently not in effect in these districts. This indicates that the lack of electricity is a consequence of the attack rather than of planned outages.

What is being done

According to the DTEK statement, the capital's energy workers are already working at the sites of the damage. Their aim is to restore the equipment as quickly as possible and bring electricity back to residents of Kyiv.

Klitschko additionally reported a strike on a critical infrastructure facility. According to him, emergency services are heading to the site of the hit.

The sources do not specify how many residents have been left without electricity, how extensive the damage is, or how long restoring supply may take. The information may be updated when the authorities provide new details.
