Russian armed forces launched an attack on the Ukrainian port city of Odesa overnight into September 17, damaging a multi-storey apartment building, according to Serhii Lysak, head of the city's military administration.

Attack details

Writing on social media, Lysak said Odesa had come under enemy attack and that a residential high-rise building had been damaged. He added that other details of the incident were still being established, though the official statement did not specify casualties, injuries, or the full extent of the damage.

Odesa, one of Ukraine's largest Black Sea port cities, has repeatedly been targeted by Russian air and drone strikes in recent years. Residential areas and port infrastructure in the city have previously suffered damage from similar attacks.

Authorities are continuing to assess the damage, with further information about the situation expected to follow.
