Apartment sales begin in Stiga RM's new building in Kuldīga
Stiga RM, a birch plywood manufacturer in Kuldīga, is offering 33 of the 65 apartments in its new residential building at Lapegļu iela 1a for sale. The company will keep the rest while it works out terms for employees to buy or rent them.

Sales of apartments have started in a new multi-apartment building in Kuldīga, at Lapegļu iela 1a, built by the birch plywood manufacturer SIA Stiga RM. Of the 65 homes in total, 33 are on the market. The company will hold on to the others for now so it can draw up terms under which its own employees can buy or rent them. The project responds to a shortage of housing in the town, which makes it harder to find workers and persuade them to relocate to Kuldīga.
What the building offers
Stiga RM invested 5.5 million euros in construction. The building has 4,800 square metres of floor space and contains two-room, three-room and studio-type apartments. The company says the aim is not only to provide homes for current employees but also to attract new ones and support the town's overall development.
How the sales are organised
Viesturs Krēvics, head of Stiga RM's birch plywood mill, says the company has entrusted the sale of the apartments offered on the open market to the real estate agency Tribus. The agency handles listings, viewings and open-house days, attracts buyers and manages the transactions.
According to Krēvics, interest in buying began even before sales were launched: people noticed the construction and phoned to ask about the chance to purchase. Those interested include Kuldīga residents as well as people living in Riga whose parents live in Kuldīga. The new housing could give them a chance to move to the town.
Terms for employees
Stiga RM employs almost 700 people, and the company wants to find out how many would be interested in buying an apartment. The terms for staff are still being developed. Various options are under consideration, including renting and renting with a purchase option, but no decision has been made. Krēvics stresses that the goal is to offer competitive terms that appeal to employees. The apartments intended for staff are planned to be sold by the company itself, although this may also change.
