Reconstruction of Kuldīga culture centre to resume in September
Construction work on Kuldīga's culture centre on Raiņa Street is set to resume in September after a contract was signed with local business association INB. The €8.8 million project will be financed in stages through a state loan.

Renovation work on the Kuldīga culture centre building complex at Raiņa Street 21 is scheduled to resume in September. A contract for the complex's reconstruction was signed on Friday with local business association INB.
The project will be funded through a loan from the State Treasury, approved by the municipal council in June. The total amount, €8.8 million, will be disbursed in stages, with the first tranche set at €2.4 million. After each construction phase, the municipality will assess progress before deciding on the next payment.
Three buildings, new hall layout
The renovated culture centre will consist of three connected buildings: a theatre, an amateur arts building, and an administration building. Once reconstruction is complete, the venue will offer three main event spaces with a combined 554 seats: a large hall with a balcony seating 408 (with transformable seating), a small hall with 90 seats, and a multifunctional hall — also usable for film screenings — with 56 seats.
Kuldīga municipal council chair Inese Astaševska said the development marks an important step, noting that the site is historic and large, and that considerable work has already gone into preparing the project.
Experienced contractor
Inbuv, a construction firm within the INB association, has previously worked on major Kuldīga projects including the Technology and Tourism College and the town's swimming pool. The company is currently also carrying out reconstruction of a floor at the Central Kurzeme primary school-development centre in Pelči, as well as projects in Aizkraukle, Riga and Ventspils.
INB representative Toms Trubins said the first construction phase will involve completing the demolition of existing structures, restoring the foundations and internal utility systems, and installing new roofs on all three buildings.
