On Sunday, August 18, a severe storm caused significant damage to the 'Rāznas koki' rope course in the Latgale region. Strong winds uprooted and snapped trees within ten minutes, destroying the course structures. No injuries were reported, as the instructor, taking into account weather forecasts and the deteriorating conditions, did not allow new visitors onto the course.

The owners are still assessing the extent of the damage. On Monday, they plan to contact the insurance company to discuss compensation. At the same time, they are considering organizing a charity event to help restore the course. However, it is already clear that the facility will not reopen this summer.

'Rāznas koki' offers not only a rope course but also a climbing wall and water bomb activities on Lake Rāzna. These are currently suspended.

As reported, on Sunday severe storms hit parts of eastern and southeastern Latvia. The Latvian Environment, Geology and Meteorology Centre had issued an orange-level warning, effective until late Sunday evening.
