AS Latvenergo, which produces and sells electricity and heat, is expanding the range of services under its Elektrum brand and starting to provide internet in Latvia. The services will be delivered together with the telecommunications and technology company Tet and the mobile operator Bite Latvija, Latvenergo representatives told the news agency LETA. The company says it wants customers to avoid searching for several providers to cover different household needs.

What is on offer

Latvenergo will offer optical internet at speeds of up to 1,000 megabits per second, as well as mobile internet products. Tet and Bite Latvija will supply the technical infrastructure and support, while Elektrum will handle customer service, contracts and billing.

The optical network reaches at least 70% of the country's territory, with 570,000 connections, while the mobile network covers practically the whole country. Over time, Elektrum plans to add television services.

Comments from the companies

Latvenergo commercial director Dmitrijs Juskovecs said the company is widening its offering around electricity and everyday household needs, following customer demand and global trends. Tet management board chairman Uldis Tatarčuks noted that infrastructure sharing is becoming more common in the telecom sector. Bite Latvija commercial director Gusts Muzikants said that using the mobile network will let customers get internet where optical service is unavailable.

Background

According to Latvenergo, Latvia has about 841,000 households, of which almost 600,000 are Elektrum customers. More customers are choosing several home services from one provider.

Latvenergo group's 2025 turnover was €1.566 billion and its profit €198.809 million. Tet group's turnover was €302.854 million (5.8% lower than a year earlier), while its profit rose 14.2% to €20.587 million. Tet is owned by the state-owned company Possessor (51%) and Tilts Communications (49%), a subsidiary of Telia Company. Bite Latvija's turnover was €209.825 million, up 14.2%, while profit fell 26.7% to €24.703 million. Its sole owner is Lithuania's Bite group.
