“Info par dezinfo” podcast series on disinformation ends with episode on accountability
The sixth and final episode of the Zemgales Ziņas podcast “Info par dezinfo” looks at liability for deliberately creating and spreading disinformation. It examines Latvia's Criminal Law and the European Union's Artificial Intelligence Act.

The six-episode podcast series “Info par dezinfo”, devoted to disinformation, has come to an end. The sixth episode, on accountability, is available as audio on the website of the Latvian outlet Zemgales Ziņas. The series set out to explain what disinformation is, what forms it takes and how it spreads, as well as what liability may arise for knowingly creating and spreading it.
In the final episode, the programme makers examined Latvia's Criminal Law and the European Union's Artificial Intelligence Act, which regulates artificial intelligence. These documents help clarify how legislation addresses disinformation.
An experiment with artificial intelligence
As part of an experiment, the question about disinformation was also put to an artificial intelligence system. The authors invite listeners to hear the episode and judge for themselves how objective the answer was.
A call for critical thinking
The episode also comes with a call to evaluate information found online critically. Attention should be paid to the content and headlines of articles, as well as to the authenticity of photographs and video material.
The programme is hosted by Līva Estere Zondaka.
