Latvia to turn cooler, with wet snow possible in places

Weather in Latvia will change little over the next few days, but a cooler spell is expected at the start of the new working week. According to the Latvian Environment, Geology and Meteorology Centre, rain may be joined by wet snow in some places.

Weekend forecast

On Saturday and Sunday the sky will be mostly overcast, though the sun will briefly break through in places. Light rain is possible mainly in eastern districts.

On Saturday daytime, winds along the Gulf of Riga coast will become gusty. The night leading into Saturday will be chilly: across most of the country temperatures will fall to between -2 and +3 degrees, while the coast will be milder, at +3 to +8 degrees. The daytime maximum on Saturday will reach +4 to +9 degrees.

The night into Sunday will be slightly warmer, while daytime temperatures will stay similar to those of recent days. Fog may form in places during the night before Sunday. Winds will be light to moderate from the west and northwest, gradually shifting to a southerly direction on Sunday.

Start of next week

At the beginning of the working week the weather will not change significantly, but it will become cooler. Forecasters say wet snow may join the rain in places. In the second half of the week, precipitation is expected over a wider area.
