Latvia enters European unicorn index for the first time with company FYUL
Latvia has made its debut in the Hurun Emerging Europe Unicorn Index 2026 through FYUL, a company valued at 1.5 billion US dollars. The Baltic states outperform Germany, France and the Netherlands in unicorns per million inhabitants.

Latvia has been included for the first time in the international Hurun Emerging Europe Unicorn Index 2026, which tracks start-ups valued at $1 billion or more, commonly called unicorns. Latvia is represented in the index by FYUL, a company valued at 1.5 billion US dollars.
Baltics ahead of larger economies
The study indicates that the Baltic states are among the most successful in Europe when unicorns are counted per million inhabitants. On that measure the region ranks ahead of Germany, France and the Netherlands, which are larger economies with far bigger populations.
The wider European picture
The index covers 14 emerging European countries, where 13 unicorns have been identified in total. FYUL's appearance on the list means Latvia is now counted among the countries where a start-up of this scale has emerged.
The source text is abridged, so further details about FYUL's line of business and the other companies in the index are not available in this report.
