A Latvian translation of Swedish author Anders Roslund's crime novel “Sleep Tight” has been published, bringing his dark thriller style to local readers. The book was translated from Swedish by Madars Paičs.
The plot
The story centers on a disturbing mystery: on the very same day in Stockholm, two four-year-old girls go missing. Both girls now rest in the same cemetery, yet neither the girl buried beneath the white wooden cross nor the girl named Linnea is actually inside her coffin — both are empty. To uncover the connection between the two disappearances, detective inspector Ewert Grens and undercover agent Piet Hoffmann must descend into the darkest corners of society and face what becomes their most dangerous and demanding case yet.
About the author
Born in 1961, Anders Roslund is one of Sweden's best-known contemporary authors. His books have been translated into 40 languages and have sold more than 5 million copies worldwide. Latvian readers have previously had access to another of his novels, “Two Soldiers” (published in Latvian as “Daudz baltu dienu”).
Roslund's work is associated with the Scandinavian noir genre, known for its bleak and tense atmosphere. The New York Times has described his prose as delivering genuine chills, characterizing it through its deliberately dark tone.
