An avalanche hit a group of climbers on Broad Peak in Pakistan on Thursday, leaving ten people missing. Broad Peak is the world’s 12th-highest mountain, situated in a high-altitude environment where conditions are known to be extreme.

The expedition was led by Nirmal Purja, a renowned Nepali mountaineer with international recognition. His involvement in the expedition has drawn considerable attention to the incident.

Rescue teams have so far found the remains of four climbers. The search-and-rescue operation is still ongoing, with teams working at the scene to establish what happened and to locate the remaining missing climbers.
