The Leigh Leopards secured their eighth win in ten games with a commanding 24-6 victory over Warrington Wolves on the opening day of Magic Weekend. The result is a major blow to Warrington, who sit second in the Super League but missed the chance to equal leaders Leeds after being hampered by injuries to 10 players, including captain George Williams.

Tries from Tesi Niu, David Armstrong, Edwin Ipape, and Umyla Hanley powered Leigh's victory, with Adam Cook converting four kicks. Warrington's only try came from Marc Sneyd, who scored a converted try with two minutes remaining.

Leigh head coach Adrian Lam praised his team: "Very happy with the result. We put the game to bed early and had a lot of intent. Lachlan Lam played his best game of the season."

Warrington coach Sam Burgess expressed disappointment: "I'm disappointed. The performance was off today. We had a good enough team to win if we performed."

Despite the loss, Warrington remain second but could drop to third if Wigan Warriors defeat St Helens in the final game of the weekend. Leigh closed in on the top six, keeping their playoff hopes alive.
