Leeds United agree £34.1m fee for defender Muharemovic
Leeds United have agreed a £34.1 million fee with Italian club Sassuolo for defender Tarik Muharemovic, though personal terms and a medical are still pending.

Leeds United have reached an agreement with Italian side Sassuolo for the transfer of defender Tarik Muharemovic for a fee of £34.1 million. The 23-year-old centre-back has yet to agree personal terms or undergo a medical, with several other Premier League clubs also expressing interest.
If the Bosnia-Herzegovina international opts for Elland Road, he would become Daniel Farke's second summer signing, following attacker Harry Wilson who joined on a free transfer from Fulham. Muharemovic would serve as a direct replacement for Pascal Struijk, who moved to Brighton for £20 million in June.
The defender made three appearances for Bosnia-Herzegovina at the World Cup, including in the round-of-32 defeat by co-hosts the United States. In that match, he was fouled by Folarin Balogun, leading to the US forward's red card, though the suspension was later waived by FIFA after intervention from US President Donald Trump and White House officials.
Born in Slovenia's capital Ljubljana, Muharemovic began his career in Austrian football, debuting with Wolfsberger in 2021. After a stint at Italian giants Juventus, where he did not make a first-team appearance, he was sold to Sassuolo in 2025 following a successful loan spell. Juventus are reportedly entitled to 50% of the transfer fee due to a clause included in the sale last summer.
