The Metropolitan Police have arrested a man in connection with a social media post that contained threats against former politician and Reform UK leader Nigel Farage. The arrest took place at a residential address in south London after detectives applied to a social media platform for the user's contact information. The police said the report about the post was received on May 8. The arrest follows the death of Ann Widdecombe, a former Conservative minister and Reform UK spokesperson, at her home in Devon, which is being investigated by counterterrorism police. Farage told the Telegraph that this was the first time police had proactively acted on a social media post and expressed hope they would also look into hundreds of similar posts from this year alone.
