Firefighters extinguish waste on balcony of nine-story building in Liepāja; multiple calls in Kurzeme
Over three days, the State Fire and Rescue Service's Kurzeme region received 24 calls, including a fire on a high-rise balcony and several tree removal operations.

From 6:30 AM on July 3 to 6:30 AM on July 6, the Kurzeme region of the State Fire and Rescue Service handled 24 calls. Of these, four were for firefighting, 14 for rescue operations, and six were false alarms.
On the night before Saturday, at 1:18 AM, firefighters responded to Krūmu Street in Liepāja. Waste was burning on the fourth-floor balcony of a nine-story residential building, covering an area of 2 square meters. The fire was extinguished shortly before 2:00 AM.
At 3:51 AM, rescuers were dispatched to Ēdole Parish in Kuldīga Municipality, where an electric pole was burning on an area of 0.5 square meters. The fire was put out at 5:38 AM.
On Saturday at 11:51 AM, a call came from Kalvene Parish in Dienvidkurzeme Municipality. Flames had engulfed a one-story outbuilding: the exterior wall (20 m²), roof wooden structures (10 m²), another wall (7 m²), and the floor slab (20 m²) were burning. The fire was extinguished at 1:40 PM.
Shortly before noon, firefighters went to Grobiņa Parish in Dienvidkurzeme Municipality, where two cars had collided. Using hand tools and hydraulic equipment, they disconnected the battery terminals of both vehicles and cleared the roadway. The work was completed at 1:28 PM.
At 12:45 PM, a call came from Tārgale Parish in Ventspils Municipality – a pile of bark was burning over 100 square meters. The fire was extinguished at 4:22 PM.
During the period, five calls were received regarding broken or fallen trees that posed a threat. Two cases occurred in Liepāja and three in Ventspils. In most cases, trees had fallen onto the roadway. On Saturday, on Lidotāju Street in Ventspils, a tree had fallen in front of the door of an apartment building; it was cut with a chainsaw and the door was cleared.
Overall, during this period, the State Fire and Rescue Service received 134 calls across Latvia – 19 for firefighting (including one forest fire), 75 for rescue operations, and 40 false alarms.
