Liepāja Unveils Full 2027 European Capital of Culture Programme
The full programme of Liepāja as the 2027 European Capital of Culture, titled "(Un)rest", was presented publicly at the "Lielais dzintars" concert hall. It includes more than 500 cultural and arts events.

On Friday, 9 October, the full programme for Liepāja's year as the 2027 European Capital of Culture was announced publicly at the "Lielais dzintars" concert hall in Liepāja, Latvia. The European Capital of Culture is a title awarded within the European Union, which a city holds for one year and marks with an extensive cultural programme. Liepāja's programme is called "(ne)miers", which can be rendered as "(Un)rest".
What the programme includes
The programme brings together more than 500 cultural and arts events. They are a mix of local and international events.
The events will take place not only in Liepāja itself but also in the South Kurzeme and Kuldīga municipalities. The cultural capital year therefore covers a wider part of the Kurzeme region.
Why it matters
Publishing the full programme shows the scope of Liepāja's cultural capital year, both in content and in geography. It indicates that activities in 2027 are planned at several locations in Kurzeme, not only in the city.
