Liepāja defeats Super Nova in battle for fourth place
Liepāja's football team secured a win over Super Nova, strengthening their position in fourth place in the league table.

In a Latvian football championship match for the fourth spot in the standings, Liepāja defeated Super Nova 2:1 at home. The opening goal came in the 28th minute, when after a mistake by the hosts in midfield, the visitors launched a counterattack and Lizunovs put the ball into the net. During the remainder of the first half, a handball in the Super Nova penalty area led to a penalty kick, which was converted by Gejs in the 37th minute to make it 1:1. In the first minute of first-half stoppage time, the hosts took the lead when Patijčuks scored from close range after a pass from Kivons Leidsman.
In another match, Tukums 2000 played a 1:1 draw at home against Daugavpils. On Saturday, three more games are scheduled: Ogre United will host Riga, Grobiņa will face RFS in Liepāja, and Auda will play Jelgava in Riga.
After 16 rounds, the league table shows RFS with 43 points, Riga with 39, and Auda with 34. Liepāja is fourth with 25 points, followed by Super Nova with 20 points. Daugavpils has 19, Jelgava 15, Tukums 2000 14, Grobiņa 13, and Ogre United 4 points.
The 2026 season is being played in four rounds, with 36 matchdays and a total of 180 matches. The final round is scheduled for November 8. Last season's champion was Riga.
