Tomorrow, July 3, 2026, at 6:00 PM, a practical talk titled "Peace Begins with Preparedness: How to Prepare Yourself and Your Family for Crisis Situations" will take place in Liepāja at 45 T. Breikša Street, 2nd floor left. The event is organized by Re!Liepāja, the neighborhood association JaunLiepāja, the association FutureWorks, and the Liepāja City and District Volunteer Firefighters Association, with financial support from the Liepāja municipality.

The guest speaker will be Iveta Karlsone, a board member of the Liepāja City and District Volunteer Firefighters Association and a civil protection expert with extensive experience, including drafting civil protection documents for companies and municipalities. She will emphasize that crisis preparedness starts with every family and community, not just state services.

During the session, participants will learn how the 112 mobile app and cell broadcast alerts work, what the yellow, orange, and red warning levels mean, how to prepare a 72+ hour survival kit, how to create a family communication plan, which information sources are most reliable during a crisis, and how to stay calm while helping oneself, family, and neighbors.

The event is free of charge. Attendees can ask questions, share experiences, and receive practical advice that can be implemented immediately. Registration is available via the provided link. The talk is suitable for everyone, regardless of prior knowledge of civil protection.
