Used EV market: What $25,000–$30,000 buys you

Used EV prices in the US are climbing alongside strong demand, but thousands of vehicles remain available in the $25,000–$30,000 range, including popular Chevrolet and Ford models.

An unusual trend is unfolding in the US used EV market: supply is rising as more former lease vehicles arrive, yet prices are climbing too. According to analysts at Cox Automotive, used EV prices have risen just over 5 percent since February, a shift linked to America's latest involvement in a Middle East conflict.

Despite higher prices, used EV sales have remained strong this year, up 25 percent year over year through May, though a softer June brought the overall year-over-year gain down to just over 20 percent. Cox Automotive data also shows used EVs spend far less time on dealer lots than new ones — just 38 days' supply in June, compared to 81 days for new EVs. Analysts at Recurrent note that demand is concentrated at the more affordable end of the market.

What's available between $25,000 and $30,000

According to a search on Autotrader, more than 9,000 used EVs are currently listed in this price range. The listings generally fall into three groups: models with plenty of choice, models with a couple hundred available nationwide, and rarer models with only a handful for sale.

The widest selection comes from established mass-market models. Chevrolet is strongly represented, with roughly 750 Blazer EVs and about 550 Equinox EVs in this price band. Since the Equinox EV starts at not much more when new, used examples tend to have low mileage and solid equipment — though neither Chevrolet model offers Apple CarPlay or Android Auto. Ford's Mustang Mach-E also has a strong presence, with nearly 700 examples available, including cars as recent as the 2025 model year. Of particular note are about 50 Mach-E GT variants for sale — all 2023 models that are less efficient than other Mach-E trims, but which ride noticeably better thanks to magnetorheological dampers.
