Midsummer or Līgo is celebrated across Latvia, but for those named Līga, it's doubly special – it's their name day. While many prepare cheese, weave wreaths, and light bonfires, Līgas receive congratulations. However, being named Līga doesn't always mean being in the spotlight. Līga Circene from Skrīveri admits that her name day often merges with the general festivities. She jokes that she doesn't need to organize anything – the celebrations happen anyway. Sometimes greetings only come when someone suddenly remembers that a Līga is present. In an interview, she tells about the origin of her name: her godmother suggested the name Līga because the family already had a Jānis but no Līga. Līga Circene also shares childhood memories, family traditions, and highlights from her most memorable Līgo celebrations. She reflects on what it means to bear a name so closely tied to one of Latvia's most beloved holidays.
