An 18-year-old boxer from Islington, north London, has died after taking a mixture of drugs, including ketamine, following a night out that began with a work social event. The British newspaper the Daily Mail reported the case. A coroner has ruled the death a drug-related accident and warned about how widespread ketamine use has become among young people.

What happened

The events took place on 6 December 2024. Kallum Naylor drank with colleagues, but was refused entry to a strip club because he was under 21. He later met friends, visited a pub in Kingston and eventually ended up at a house party in Notting Hill, in west London.

There he drank vodka and took ketamine, then lost consciousness. In the morning hours his friends could not wake him and called an ambulance. He was taken to hospital, where he died the same evening.

Findings of the investigation

A toxicology examination found several substances: ketamine, Xanax, ecstasy and cocaine. The cause of death was recorded as multiple drug toxicity.

Coroner Professor Fiona Wilcox classed the case as a drug-related accident. She warned about the prevalence of ketamine among young people and stressed that there is no safe dose, especially when substances are mixed.

Sporting background

Naylor began boxing at the age of eight and had tried to make the England schoolboys' team. He later paused his sporting career to work as a plasterer on film sets.

His mother, Kelly Gorman, described him as a kind and loving boy whose nickname was "No Fear".
