London-based Gaussion raises €24.5 million to advance battery intelligence technology
Gaussion, a London deep tech company developing energy intelligence for battery packs, has closed a €24.5 million funding round, bringing total funding to over €38 million.

Gaussion, founded in 2022 as a spinout from University College London and the Faraday Institution, develops two core products: MagLiB, a magnetic PCB retrofit system, and Aeon, a proprietary control chip and over-the-air intelligence platform. Together, they create an intelligent control layer inside battery packs. The company's technology uses an external magnetic field to enable rapid charging, improving the performance and lifespan of battery systems without altering their chemistry or design. The technology is compatible with all lithium-ion batteries and applies to various sectors, from charging EVs and drones to powering data centers.
The latest funding round was co-led by BGF and AlbionVC, with follow-on investments from Autotech Ventures, UCL Technology Fund, DN Capital, and Future Ventures. Total funding now exceeds €38 million. In October 2025, Gaussion moved into a new 40,000 sq ft facility in central London, which the company claims is one of the largest battery R&D locations in Europe.
Gaussion holds 66 applications across 17 patent families, with commercial programs spanning automotive, aerospace, grid storage, consumer electronics, and more. CEO and co-founder Tom Heenan noted that while many focus on computer chips, the real prize is the battery, as it determines whether AI computers, drones, and satellites can function. He stated that every battery faces a physics ceiling, and Gaussion moves that ceiling.
Dennis Atkinson, co-Head of Early Stage at BGF, emphasized that Gaussion has made significant strides in validating its technology, scaling operations, and increasing commercial traction. He highlighted the company's differentiated offering and versatile product that addresses fundamental performance and cost issues in battery systems. Sebastian Hunte, Investment Director at AlbionVC, pointed out that batteries underpin the modern world, yet every battery faces the same ceiling on performance and lifespan. Gaussion has created a magnetic intelligence layer that dramatically lifts performance across any chemistry or format.
