Luxury maker Caviar offers foldable iPhone Duo with diamonds and meteorite fragments
Luxury goods maker Caviar has unveiled its “Zodiac” collection, which customises Apple's foldable iPhone Duo with precious metals, gemstones and meteorite pieces. Prices for the customised models reach $15,000 and more.
Caviar, a company that makes luxury customised smartphones and accessories, has presented a new collection for Apple's foldable smartphone, the iPhone Duo. The designs use precious metals, gemstones, exotic leather and real pieces of meteorite. Apple sells the device in the United States for $1,999, while Caviar's customised versions can cost $15,000 or more, depending on the materials chosen.
The Zodiac collection
The collection is called Zodiac and is based on the 12 signs of the zodiac. The company has built an online tool that lets buyers design the look of their phone. First, the customer picks a zodiac sign, which determines the constellation image on the back of the device. After that, the frame, back panel, decorative zodiac ring and central ornament can be customised.
Available materials include silver, yellow and rose gold, titanium, and crocodile and python leather. For decoration, buyers can choose diamonds, sapphires, rubies, Swarovski crystals and meteorite fragments. Caviar says more than a million design combinations are possible for each zodiac sign.
Price examples
The Aries model, with a black titanium frame and a carbon-fibre composite back, costs about $14,800. The Aquarius version, with silver elements and dark blue crocodile leather, costs about $18,615. Both examples use an iPhone Duo with 256 GB of storage, though the final price changes with the materials selected.
Caviar also checks the hinge and screen of each customised foldable and provides a 12-month warranty.
Earlier products
This is not the first unusual and expensive item from the company. It previously offered an iPhone case priced at $4,490 that contains a real fragment of a tyrannosaurus tooth, as well as smartphone editions dedicated to footballers Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi.
