Miami Heat acquire Giannis Antetokounmpo from Milwaukee Bucks
Two-time NBA MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo leaves the Milwaukee Bucks to join the Miami Heat in a multi-player trade that also involves Bobby Portis and several young players.

Two-time NBA Most Valuable Player Giannis Antetokounmpo has been traded from the Milwaukee Bucks to the Miami Heat. The deal includes Bobby Portis moving to Miami as well, with Tyler Herro, Kel'el Ware, Jaime Jaquez Jr., and Kasparas Jakucionis heading to Milwaukee.
Antetokounmpo, drafted by the Bucks in 2013, won an NBA championship with the team in 2021. The 31-year-old criticized management last season for not clearing him to play after suffering a hyperextended left knee. His future had been uncertain, with the Boston Celtics also linked to the Greek star.
Heat president Pat Riley called the trade "one of the great trades" in the franchise's history. Miami has won three NBA titles (2006, 2012, 2013).
In April, after the Bucks missed the playoffs, Antetokounmpo said: "I feel like sometimes people just don't listen. They listen to the sources. The main source is me. It is what it is."
Separately, the Philadelphia 76ers finalized a deal to acquire Jaylen Brown from the Boston Celtics and signed free-agent guard Anfernee Simons. The 76ers sent veteran Paul George, two first-round picks, and two second-round picks to Boston.
