Estonia ranks third in EU for industrial output drop in May
Estonia's industrial production fell by 3% in May compared to the same month last year, the third steepest decline among EU countries, according to Eurostat.

New data from Eurostat shows that Estonia's industrial output in May 2026 decreased by 3% year-on-year, placing it among the three EU member states with the largest declines. The sharpest contraction occurred in Ireland, where production dropped by 19.7%, followed by Bulgaria with a 4.7% fall.
In contrast, the highest growth rates were recorded in Denmark and Sweden, each with a 6.5% increase, and in neighboring Latvia, which saw a 6.2% rise.
On a monthly basis, Estonia's industrial production edged down by 0.2% compared to April. Across the European Union, output contracted by 0.3% year-on-year in May, while the eurozone experienced a 1.2% decline. Compared to April, EU industrial production fell by 0.1% and eurozone output by 0.2%.
