Maija Kurševa: Drawing as Active Thinking During Doctoral Studies
Artist and drawing researcher Maija Kurševa shares how she used drawing instead of traditional note-taking during her doctoral lectures, considering it an active form of thinking.

Artist Maija Kurševa, who also researches drawing, has revealed how she incorporated sketching into her studies. During her doctoral lectures, rather than taking conventional notes, she drew. While she did write down some things occasionally, her main approach was to quickly and concisely sketch what she heard.
Kurševa explains that this drawing served as an active way of thinking. It allowed her to create a highly personalized memory bank that, as she notes, her classmates would not be able to understand by looking at her notes. This method helped her better comprehend and retain the lecture material.
