Smiltene Municipality to Host Home Café Days with 23 Venues in August
On August 8-9, Smiltene Municipality will hold the Home Café Days, featuring 23 home cafés that offer a relaxed journey through local flavors and hospitality.
The Home Café Days in Smiltene Municipality are set to return on August 8 and 9, with an expanded program compared to last year. In 2024, the event attracted over 2,300 visitors to 19 home cafés; this year, 23 venues will participate across the municipality, including locations in Ape, Smiltene, Rauna, and the parishes of Bilska, Branti, Drusti, Gaujiena, Launkalne, Rauna, Trapene, Variņi, and Vireši.
Each café will offer a unique experience: some will serve family recipes passed down through generations, others will present creative flavor combinations, and many will feature additional activities such as concerts, workshops, and tastings of local products. The event’s motto, “Enjoy life without rushing,” encourages visitors to take their time, savor the moment, and engage with local hosts.
Organized by the Latvian Country Tourism Association “Lauku ceļotājs” in cooperation with the Investment and Development Agency of Latvia (LIAA) and municipalities, the event in Smiltene is coordinated by the municipality’s Business and Tourism Department.
