Macron to Host Trump at Versailles for US Independence Anniversary After G7 Summit
French President Emmanuel Macron will host U.S. President Donald Trump for dinner at the Palace of Versailles following the G7 summit, marking the 250th anniversary of American independence.

U.S. President Donald Trump and French President Emmanuel Macron will meet for a dinner at the Palace of Versailles near Paris after next week's G7 summit in France, their governments announced Saturday. The dinner, scheduled for Wednesday, will celebrate the 250th anniversary of the independence of the United States. Macron's office described the palace as "a historic symbol of Franco-American friendship."
Trump arrives in France Monday afternoon, after celebrating his 80th birthday Sunday with a mixed martial arts show on the White House lawn. According to senior administration officials, Trump's schedule includes several one-on-one meetings with foreign leaders on the sidelines of the summit in the lakeside town of Evian-les-Bains. He is set to hold separate talks with leaders from Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, Egypt, and India, who are attending at Macron's invitation.
The G7 summit, bringing together leaders from the U.S., Britain, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, and Japan, will cover economic growth and development, securing supply chains for critical minerals, illegal immigration, and artificial intelligence. The wars in Ukraine and Iran are also expected to be key topics. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky will attend the summit, but no formal meeting with Trump is currently scheduled, though they could meet informally.
The Palace of Versailles, once the residence of French kings, regularly hosts heads of state. Macron welcomed King Charles III and Queen Camilla there in 2021 for the palace's 400th anniversary, and in 2017 he hosted Russian President Vladimir Putin before their relationship deteriorated over the war in Ukraine.
