The Dubulti Art Station has opened a group exhibition titled "Mycelium. Organic Compounds", bringing together ten women artists: five from Latvia and five from Germany. The show places artists from two countries in a single display and lets visitors see how different authors approach related themes.
What is on show
The defining feature of the exhibition is that everything in it is unified yet different. Through varied perspectives, the artists' works explore the female body, family relationships and nature.
The exhibition also includes less expected images and motifs. Visitors will find melting Antarctic glaciers, as well as female garden gnomes ready to step beyond their usual boundaries.
The title, "Mycelium", points to connections and links, and these are at the heart of the show: it joins artists from two countries and a range of themes in one shared story.
