Nobody Wants This creator says she disagrees with Adam Brody's Palestine comments

Erin Foster, the creator and an actor in the Netflix comedy Nobody Wants This, has said she disagrees with co-star Adam Brody's recent public support for Palestine amid the Israel-Gaza war. She spoke in an interview with the Not Skinny Not Fat podcast as the show's third season began arriving this week.

Foster said everyone is entitled to their own opinion and called the issue complicated. In her words, the show's set resembles dinner tables around the world, where people debate and sometimes disagree. "While I love Adam, I also disagree with him. And that's OK," she said.

About the series

The show follows the unexpected romance between Joanne Williams, an agnostic podcast host played by Kristen Bell, and Noah Roklov, a rabbi played by Brody. The story was inspired by Foster's own life: she converted to Judaism after meeting her husband. In season three, Joanne and Noah move in together while their siblings keep searching for love. The Guardian's Jack Seale gave the new episodes four stars.

Foster addressed the show's Jewish viewers directly, saying she sees and hears them. She described the series as having always been, and always remaining, a love letter to Judaism, and said she considers positive representation of Jewish people especially important now.

Brody's remarks

Last month Brody spoke about his political views for the first time, telling GQ magazine that he considers the situation a genocide and wants a free Palestine.

Foster has posted about the Israel-Gaza war on social media before. In 2021 she wrote in support of a two-state solution and said both Palestinians and Jews deserve to live in peace. The Guardian has asked representatives for Foster, Netflix and Brody for comment.
