A fire at the Moscow oil refinery following a Ukrainian drone strike has caused 'oil rain' in the surrounding area. Residents shared photos of black residue on surfaces.
A fire at the Moscow oil refinery, triggered by a Ukrainian drone attack, has led to what locals describe as 'oil rain' falling across the vicinity. Residents of Zheleznodorozhny, east of Moscow, posted photographs showing a black film left on surfaces after rain mixed with petroleum combustion byproducts. In Lyubertsy, to the southeast, residents also reported a strong smell of burning.
Moscow's environmental monitoring agency stated that pollutant concentrations in the city's air as of 12:00 p.m. did not exceed permissible limits. Independent meteorologists forecast that precipitation mixed with petroleum combustion byproducts will continue to fall across the Moscow region east of the city for another 24 hours.
