Nursing Scholarship Program Continues for Second Year
Future children's nurses can receive a €2,000 scholarship per academic year thanks to cooperation between the Children's Hospital Foundation and the Future Support Foundation.
The Children's Hospital Foundation, using a donation from the Future Support Foundation, is continuing the Nursing Scholarship Program for the second year. The scholarship aims to enhance the prestige of the children's nursing profession and encourage young specialists to remain at the hospital. Each scholarship amounts to €2,000 for a full academic year, helping student nurses combine work with studies.
Recipients this year are nursing students from the University of Latvia and Riga Stradiņš University who already work at the Children's Hospital. A closing event for the first year was held at Rietumu Banka, where recipients, mentors, hospital management, and supporters reviewed achievements and outlined future plans. The scholarship eases the balance between studies and work, strengthening the confidence of new nurses in their chosen profession.
The chair of the Children's Hospital Foundation emphasized the importance of nurses' professionalism and compassionate care. A representative of the Future Support Foundation expressed satisfaction with the program's continuation, calling it an investment in the future of children's healthcare. The chair of the Children's Hospital board noted that working with children requires knowledge, empathy, and warmth, and this scholarship program provides essential support for young nurses.
