Food and beverage producer Pepsi continues to conduct business in Russia, despite having publicly announced in March 2022, following Russia's invasion of Ukraine, that it would suspend production and sales in the country. This was reported by the Ukrainian media outlet Kyiv Independent.

According to information obtained by the outlet, Pepsi paid $237 million in income tax to the Russian state budget last year. This indicates that the company continues to generate significant revenue on the Russian market, despite its announced suspension of operations following the start of the war.

The report raises questions about the extent to which international companies that have publicly announced withdrawing from or scaling back operations in Russia are, in fact, still conducting business and paying taxes to the Russian state amid the ongoing war.
