A UFO researcher named Mausan says cameras have captured an unidentified creature in the Juárez Valley, a rural area along the Rio Grande near the US-Mexico border in Mexico's Chihuahua state. His claims are reported by the British outlet the Daily Mail. Authorities have not confirmed them, so they remain unverified.

What the researchers claim

Mausan says a carnivorous creature has carried off and killed chickens, roosters and rabbits. He says he gathered eyewitness accounts and describes the being as agile, intelligent, walking on two legs and somewhat human-like in appearance.

The cameras in the area were installed by a team working with Mausan. The photographs show a large white animal with a long tail and large limbs. The researchers say it does not resemble a rodent, raccoon, rat, rabbit or any other common animal found in Chihuahua.

At a press conference on Saturday, a team of four research assistants said they had spotted the creature climbing over a large brick wall. Comparing it with the bricks, they estimated its length from head to tail tip at nearly six feet, with a tail of about three feet. They say animal specialists consulted on the case suggested it could be a mutated animal.

Mausan allows that it may not be an alien but an intelligent being from another dimension occupying the same place in the universe as Earth. He also claims some residents have been frightened enough to leave their homes.

Response from authorities

Despite the images released on 17 October, the Civil Protection authorities in Juárez said they had received no reports of a deadly creature or of animals being taken. Police on the US side, in Texas, told the El Paso Times that since Mausan first made his claims on 5 October, they had received no reports of strange encounters or livestock deaths.

Mausan has a long record of making unusual claims about UFOs and extraterrestrial life.
