Meta Unveils New Glasses Lineup: VR Glasses, Camera-Free Audio Model and Upgraded Ray-Ban Meta
At its Connect event, Meta introduced several new wearable devices, including camera-free Ray-Ban Meta Audio glasses following months of privacy criticism, alongside upgraded Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses and lightweight VR glasses.

At Meta's Connect event in Menlo Park, CEO Mark Zuckerberg presented several new wearable products, including a pair of camera-free smart glasses designed to address months of criticism over privacy concerns tied to camera-equipped models.
Lightweight VR glasses without a headset
One of the standout announcements was the Meta VR Glasses, the next step beyond the Quest headset line. Rather than a bulky helmet-style device, they resemble large goggles, described as five times lighter than the Meta Quest 3 and worn without a headstrap. The device is controlled through hand movements and finger pinches, with eye tracking used to identify what the wearer is looking at. Inside are 5K micro-OLED displays with a resolution of 2412 x 2288 pixels per eye, while computing power and battery are housed in a separate attached puck. Small prescription lens inserts can be magnetically attached. The glasses run the same software as Meta's Quest devices, giving access to existing games and streaming apps. Meta VR Glasses will cost $1,300 and ship in spring 2027.
A camera-free option
Responding to privacy concerns, Meta introduced the Ray-Ban Meta Audio glasses, which include all standard audio features but no camera for photo or video capture. At 43 grams, they are lighter than other models, offering up to 12 hours of battery life and up to 48 hours with the charging case. They come in 23 color and style options, are priced at $349, and are available for preorder now, with shipping starting October 10.
Updated Ray-Ban Meta glasses
Meta's main Ray-Ban Meta line is getting a third-generation upgrade with 12-megapixel cameras, Dolby Atmos-enabled video capture, and up to 9 hours of battery life. A new six-microphone array improves sound quality, and a new feature aims to enhance speech clarity for the wearer. Prices start at $449, with special edition aviator models priced at $579, alongside additional versions created in collaboration with outside brands.
