Afghanistan fast bowler Shapoor Zadran dies aged 38
Former Afghanistan fast bowler Shapoor Zadran, who scored the winning runs in the country's first World Cup victory, has passed away at 38.

The Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) announced with "profound grief and deep sorrow" that Shapoor Zadran has died. The left-arm pacer was being treated for a rare immune condition in New Delhi.
Zadran played 44 ODIs and 36 T20 matches for Afghanistan between 2009 and 2020, taking 80 wickets. A career highlight was hitting the winning runs when Afghanistan beat Scotland in 2015 for their first World Cup win.
The ACB called him "one of the foundation-laying figures of Afghanistan cricket" whose dedication and passion were vital to the sport's rise in the country. Former India all-rounder Ravi Shastri paid tribute on social media, noting Zadran's role as a key architect of Afghanistan's cricket journey.
