Estonian Reform Party founder Siim Kallas dies
Former Estonian Prime Minister and European Commission Vice-President Siim Kallas has died at the age of 77 during the night of August 22. His daughter, EU foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas, announced his death on social media.

Siim Kallas, founder of Estonia's Reform Party, former Prime Minister and former Vice-President of the European Commission, died in the night of August 22 at the age of 78.
His death was announced by his daughter Kaja Kallas, who currently serves as the European Union's High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy.
"It is with deep sorrow that I must share that my dear father passed away tonight," Kaja Kallas wrote on social media.
Siim Kallas was one of the most influential figures in Estonian politics and public administration after the country regained independence. He founded the Reform Party, led the national government as prime minister, and later represented Estonia in the European Commission, where he served as vice-president.
