Moldovan Prime Minister Vasile Tofan said in Kyiv on 26 October that his country's airspace has been violated more than 100 times since the start of Russia's full-scale war in Ukraine. He made the remarks at a joint briefing with Ukrainian Prime Minister Serhiy Koretskyi, during a working visit to the Ukrainian capital. The figures show that the war in Ukraine directly affects neighbouring Moldova as well.

According to Tofan, drones and shell fragments have fallen on Moldovan territory during the conflict. Last Saturday alone there were five such incidents.

Message to Moldovan citizens

From Kyiv, Tofan addressed the people of his country. He stressed that supporting Ukraine is a choice in favour of Moldova's security. The prime minister said that by defending their cities, families and freedom every day, Ukrainians also contribute to Moldova's security. In his words, Ukraine's resistance allows Moldova to live in peace and build its future at home, although the war is taking place near its borders.

Tofan noted that Moldovans are also aware of threats to energy security. He said that support for Ukraine is a choice in favour of security, peace and prosperity in Moldova.

New agreement

On the same day, 26 October, Ukraine and Moldova signed a military-technical cooperation agreement. It opens the way to an exchange of experience between the two countries. The briefing was reported by Evropeiska Pravda (European Pravda), citing the Interfax-Ukraine agency.
