Latvia sets clocks back one hour overnight on Saturday to Sunday
Latvia switches to winter time in the night between Saturday and Sunday, 25 October, with clocks going back one hour. The next change, to summer time, is due on 28 March 2027.

Latvia will switch to winter time in the night from Saturday to Sunday, 25 October, with clocks turned back by one hour at 4:00. The information comes from the Public Relations Department of the Ministry of Economics.
The rules in force
The clock change in Latvia is set by Cabinet of Ministers Regulation No. 1010 of 26 October 2010, "On the Transition to Summer Time". It provides that on the last Sunday of March at 3:00 clocks go forward by one hour, and on the last Sunday of October at 4:00 they go back by one hour.
Across the European Union (EU), the start and end of summer time are set uniformly for all member states by Directive 2000/84/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council, adopted on 19 January 2001.
Debate on abolishing the change
The EU has discussed ending seasonal clock changes, but no joint decision has been made. Many member states believe that a full impact assessment is needed before giving up the practice. It would have to examine economic costs, effects on society and health, and other important aspects.
For this reason, Latvia continues to follow the existing arrangement, which complies with the requirements of the EU directive.
When the next change comes
The switch to summer time will take place on 28 March 2027 at 3:00, in the night from Saturday to Sunday. Clocks will then go forward by one hour.
