NATO: Russia Has Lost Over 1.4 Million Soldiers in War Against Ukraine
A senior NATO official estimates that Russia has suffered between 1.3 and 1.45 million casualties since the full-scale invasion of Ukraine, including about half a million killed. Despite heavy losses, Kremlin leader Putin remains committed to his war aims.

A high-ranking NATO official told journalists in Brussels that Russia has not abandoned its goals in the war against Ukraine, even though its manpower losses exceed 1.4 million troops. The official stated that Russian President Vladimir Putin remains steadfast in his objectives, while the country's economic situation continues to deteriorate.
According to the NATO representative, Russian forces have sustained between 1.3 and 1.45 million total casualties, of which approximately half a million are killed. The official noted that although Russia has maintained the battlefield initiative this year, its gains have been significantly less stable and consistent. There are no signs of a major change in the tempo of hostilities or preparation for a large-scale Russian offensive in the near future, due to the declining effectiveness of Russian troops on the battlefield.
Currently, Russian forces are operating with high intensity along the entire front line, especially in the Pokrovsk direction, where they seek to consolidate gains and advance toward Dobropillia. Russian troops are also trying to gain control of Kostiantynivka. NATO expects urban fighting in the city center to continue for the foreseeable future, with Ukraine's ability to resupply seriously undermined by drone usage. In the Zaporizhzhia direction, Russian advances remain minimal.
