Belfast Riots: Ugandan Students and Refugees Fear for Their Lives
In west Belfast, rioters set neighboring houses on fire; two Ugandan students and care workers experienced severe shock, while a Sudanese refugee considers leaving the city.

On Tuesday night, riots in west Belfast reached the street where Stella and Sumayah, two Ugandan students and care workers, live together. Their neighbours' houses were set on fire, smoke came through the door, and masked men were outside.
When they called emergency services, they were told not to leave their home. Sumayah, terrified of what might happen, passed out.
Guardian reporter Hannah Al-Othman discusses the violence and the fear gripping city residents. Additionally, a Sudanese refugee and father of four is considering leaving Belfast due to the escalating unrest.
