Netanyahu's Son Rushed Back to Israel From US Over 'Serious Threat'

Israel's Shin Bet security agency confirmed that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's son Yair was evacuated from Miami back to Israel due to a serious threat to his safety. The news follows reports of an alleged Iranian assassination attempt against him in December 2025.

Israel's Shin Bet security agency confirmed on Saturday that Yair Netanyahu, son of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, was brought back to Israel from Miami after threats against him. The Times of Israel reported the news, citing Israeli and American media.

In its statement, Shin Bet said a serious threat to harm Yair Netanyahu had existed, and after assessing the situation, a decision was made to urgently evacuate him along with his security detail and return him to Israel. The Hebrew-language statement did not specify the nature of the threat or who was behind it.

The American outlet Newsmax reported that, according to intelligence services, Iranian agents were present in the Miami area and had been monitoring Yair's movements.

Earlier reports of an assassination plot

The Shin Bet statement followed reports earlier this week that Yair Netanyahu had been the target of an alleged Iranian assassination attempt in December 2025, while he was living in Florida. Those reports emerged after Prime Minister Netanyahu, in a phone comment to the pro-government Channel 14, said Iran had tried to kill one of his sons.

Criticism over his time abroad

Yair Netanyahu has spent much of the past several years in the Miami area, where his lavish lifestyle and state-funded security have reportedly repeatedly drawn public attention in Israel. His extended stay abroad drew criticism after the war triggered by the Hamas attack of October 7, 2023, began, with critics questioning why the prime minister's son remained abroad while hundreds of thousands of Israelis served in reserve duty.
