In the 89th minute, Dutch forward Samerville counter-attacked, approaching the penalty area and firing the ball into the bottom left corner to seal the 5-1 win. This was Samerville's second goal in four appearances for the national team.

Both teams had already played their first matches in this friendly tournament. Sweden defeated Tunisia 5-1, while the Netherlands drew 2-2 with Japan.
