The Netherlands national football team secured a convincing 5-1 victory over Sweden in a friendly match on Saturday. The game was part of both teams' preparations for upcoming competitions.

In the 55th minute, Swedish substitute Anthony Elanga received a pass from Alexander Isak, dribbled past three Dutch defenders, and faced goalkeeper Bart Verbruggen one-on-one, slotting the ball into the top left corner to make it 1:4. In the 89th minute, Dutch forward Samerville counter-attacked, approaching the penalty area and firing the ball into the bottom left corner to seal the 5-1 win. This was Samerville's second goal in four appearances for the national team.

Both teams had already played their first matches in this friendly tournament. Sweden defeated Tunisia 5-1, while the Netherlands drew 2-2 with Japan.

Historically, the Netherlands and Sweden have met several times. Their 1974 World Cup match ended goalless, and in the 2004 European Championship quarterfinal, the Netherlands won on penalties. Their most recent meeting before this was in the 2018 World Cup qualifiers, where they first drew 1-1, and then the Netherlands won 2-0.

In the first round of this tournament, Liverpool players stood out. Swedish striker Alexander Isak was involved in three goals, while Dutch midfielder Ryan Gravenberch assisted both of his team's goals in their first match against Japan.
