Major Bus Route Changes from July 2026 in Sigulda, Limbaži, and Saulkrasti Areas
Starting 1 July 2026, VTU Valmiera will take over regional bus services in the Sigulda–Limbaži network, with numerous routes being cancelled, modified, or replaced. Changes include new feeder routes connecting to the Rīga–Skulte train.

From 1 July 2026, VTU Valmiera will become the operator for the regional bus route network section “Sigulda, Limbaži”, replacing the current carrier CATA. The contract with VTU Valmiera is for three years until 1 July 2029, with an option to extend by 12 months. Alongside the operator change, several routes and trips will be optimised.
Cancelled and modified routes Several regional routes will be completely closed, such as No.3115 “Saulkrasti–Inčupe”, No.5371 “Rīga–Carnikava–Zvejniekciems”, No.6320 “Salacgrīva–Korģene”, and No.7179 “Rīga–Kursīši–Saulkrasti”. Some routes will have specific trips cancelled, especially during school holidays or seasonally. For example, route No.3007 “Arodvidusskola–Limbažu AO–Ozolaine” will see trips shortened to Limbaži bus station, and route No.6255 “Rīga–Sigulda” will lose several trips and bypass the “Vidzemes šoseja” stop.
New routes To improve connections with the Rīga–Skulte train, new feeder routes will be introduced: No.5462 “Saulkrastu stacija–Zvejniekciems”, No.5468 “Saulkrastu stacija–Kursīši–Saulkrastu stacija”, and No.5460 “Ainaži–Saulkrastu stacija”. Their schedules will vary by season and day. Additionally, new trips will be added on routes such as No.5455 “Limbaži–Tūja–Saulkrasti” and No.7145 “Valmiera–Limbaži” to compensate for cancellations.
Other changes Several trips on routes like No.7807 “Valmiera–Saulkrasti” will have adjusted operating days: trip No.14 will run only on Sundays, while on weekdays and Saturdays it will be replaced by other routes. Overall, changes affect more than 20 routes and will take effect on 1 July 2026.
