Norway's Birdsview raises €3.7 million for concrete infrastructure inspection technology
Bergen-based startup Birdsview has raised €3.7 million to scale its concrete inspection technology that helps preserve infrastructure. The funding round was backed by several Nordic venture capital investors.
Birdsview, a startup based in Bergen, Norway, specialising in concrete inspection technology aimed at preserving infrastructure, has secured €3.7 million in funding.
The company's technology has been described as an "MRI for concrete," allowing detailed, non-destructive assessment of concrete structures' condition, helping detect damage early and extend the lifespan of infrastructure.
The funds raised are intended to strengthen the company's commercial, industrial, and international scaling efforts.
Investors behind the round
The funding round was backed by a group of investors including Sarsia, Butterfly Ventures, Proptechfonden, Kiilto Ventures, Nordic Makers and Momentum. Several existing shareholders also participated, including Eviny Ventures and Farvatn Venture, as well as individual investors Erik Bakstad, associated with the company Ardoq, and serial founder Gunnar Hvammen.
Birdsview's technology is designed to help identify wear and damage in concrete structures at an early stage, allowing for timely repairs and helping to avoid costlier interventions or structural failures later on. Such technologies are becoming increasingly important as infrastructure across parts of Europe ages and requires more efficient maintenance solutions.
