The latest episode of LSM’s program “Nu i nedelya” featured journalist Roman Shmelev, historian Mārtiņš Mintauts, and critic Maria Nasardinova in a discussion covering multiple themes related to historical understanding and contemporary events.

One of the key questions was what history does and does not teach. The panel also explored the signs that indicate wars are coming to an end. Additionally, they reflected on June 14, 1941—a date of particular significance in Latvia’s history.

Cultural events were not overlooked; the participants recommended must-see events this summer. Furthermore, they expressed the view that renaming Victory Park is a bad idea, sparking broader discussion about the symbolism of memorial sites.

These and other topics were debated within the framework of the “Nu i nedelya” program.
