Obama joins El-Sayed at Detroit rally ahead of midterm elections

Former US President Barack Obama joined Abdul El-Sayed, a candidate for the US Senate in Michigan, at a rally in Detroit. The event was held shortly before the US midterm elections, in which voters choose members of Congress, including senators, and which are widely treated as an important test for political forces. Al Jazeera reported the news on 25 October 2026.

The source report is very brief and gives no further details about the rally, such as the content of the speeches, the size of the crowd or the exact timing. All that is clearly established is that the former president publicly appeared alongside this Senate candidate in Michigan before the vote.
