In an interview with Latvian Television's program "Panorāma," OECD Secretary General Matthias Kormann acknowledged Latvia's progress over the last ten years but stressed that several areas require further improvement.

Kormann indicated that the country must pay greater attention to boosting productivity, which is a key prerequisite for economic growth. He also emphasized the need to improve public health, as it affects both quality of life and labor force availability.

Another crucial aspect, according to the OECD Secretary General, is learning to use artificial intelligence tools and training society to work with them. Latvia should more actively work on adopting and utilizing new technologies to fully leverage the available workforce and foster innovation.

Overall, Kormann concluded that Latvia has taken significant steps, but to maximize the benefits of its existing resources, targeted action is needed in the aforementioned areas.
