“Ogre United” Claim First Win in Virslīga, “Tukums 2000” Beat “Auda”
Debutants “Ogre United” secured their first victory in the “Tonybet” Latvian football Virslīga on Wednesday, defeating “Jelgava” 2-0 away, while “Tukums 2000” beat third-placed “Auda” 2-1 at home.

“Ogre United” earned their first-ever win in the “Tonybet” Latvian top football league on Wednesday, the last match of the second round (round 18), beating “Jelgava” 2-0 (1-0) on the road.
In the match played in Jelgava, Markus Ivulāns put the visitors ahead in the 27th minute, firing from the center of the penalty area into the right top corner after a counterattack. Ogre doubled their lead in the 81st minute when Maksims Semeško scored an own goal following a shot by Krister Čudars. Jelgava had drawn five and lost two of their previous seven matches, while Ogre had mostly suffered defeats before finally earning their first league victory.
In another fixture, “Tukums 2000” hosted third-placed “Auda” and won 2-1 (1-1). The hosts opened the scoring in the 30th minute: Bogdans Samoilovs sent the ball from almost the center circle, and goalkeeper Nils Puriņš, who had come off his line, touched it but could not prevent it from going into the right top corner. “Auda” equalized just five minutes later through Oskars Rubenis, who placed the ball into the right bottom corner from the penalty area. In the 62nd minute, after a pass from Samoilovs, league top scorer Oloko Ede ran towards goal and restored Tukums’ lead.
Tukums had gone six matches without a win beforehand (three draws), while Auda had recently won three in a row.
Earlier in the round, on Tuesday, “Grobiņa” beat “Liepāja” 1-0, and “Daugavpils” drew 0-0 at home with “Super Nova”. Later on Wednesday, “Riga” were set to face RFS.
After 17 rounds (some teams have played 18), the standings show: RFS 46 points, “Riga” 42, “Auda” 35 (18 games), “Liepāja” 25, “Daugavpils” 21, “Super Nova” 20, “Tukums 2000” 17, “Grobiņa” and “Jelgava” 16 each, and “Ogre United” 7.
The 2026 season championship is played in four rounds, with 36 rounds totaling 180 matches. The final round is scheduled for November 8. Last season’s champion was “Riga”.
