Ogre kindergarten children prepare Courage Boxes for young hospital patients
Children from the Ogre preschool "Strautiņš" visited Ogre district hospital together with their teachers, delivering handmade Courage Boxes filled with toys and small surprises for young patients.

On Monday, October 5, Ogre district hospital welcomed a heartwarming visit from children of the Ogre preschool institution "Strautiņš," who arrived with their teachers to deliver Courage Boxes they had prepared themselves for the hospital's youngest patients.
The boxes contain toys and small surprises meant to encourage children after medical procedures or examinations. Hospital representatives said on social media that this kind of support helps children feel safer in an unfamiliar and often frightening environment, while also showing them that people around them care and want to help.

What makes the initiative especially meaningful is that the gifts were prepared by children themselves — preschool-age kids. Hospital staff noted that by taking part in making the boxes, children learn from an early age to care for others, to share, and to bring joy to those who need extra encouragement at a given moment.
The hospital expressed gratitude to the preschool's pupils, as well as their parents and teachers, for their responsiveness and the effort they put in. Representatives noted that the surprises donated by the kindergarten will continue their journey to the hospital's young patients, helping to make anxious moments a little easier — since sometimes courage only needs a small bit of encouragement.
